Two environmental training opportunities have recently been shared with Nee Tahi Buhn that may be of interest to members interested in land stewardship, Guardian programs, and environmental monitoring careers.

Land Guardian Program (Online Training)
The Land Guardian Program, offered by Natural Resources Training Group (NRTG), is designed for individuals who want to protect land, support their communities, and build careers in environmental stewardship.
The program uses applied learning, case studies, and expert instruction to prepare participants for roles such as Land Guardian, Watchman, and Environmental Monitor.
Program Highlights
- 100% online delivery, allowing participants to train from anywhere
- 5-week, 200-hour program with applied learning and field-based case studies
- Accredited by the British Columbia College of Applied Biologists
- Free lifetime access to the program after enrollment

Environmental Technician Certificate Program (Hosted by Cheslatta Carrier Nation)
Cheslatta Carrier Nation Natural Resources will be hosting Vancouver Island University’s Environmental Technician Certificate Program in community, and is inviting Nee Tahi Buhn members to join.
This 5-week (200-hour) certificate program combines classroom instruction with hands-on field training. The program helps prepare participants for roles such as Land Guardians and environmental monitors, supporting Nations in protecting and managing their lands and waters.
The training provides recognized academic certification while encouraging participants to bring their own knowledge, values, and connection to the land into the work.
Program dates: April 20 – May 22, 2026
