Applications Now Open: Professional Lands Management Certification Program

Applications are now open for the 2026-2027 Professional Lands Management Certification Program intake. Interested members are encouraged to express interest as soon as possible, as spaces and funding are limited.

Nee Tahi Buhn members who are interested in land management, environmental stewardship, or supporting community development may be eligible to apply for a fully funded certification program.

The Professional Lands Management Certification Program (PLMCP) is a fully funded, nationally recognized training opportunity that builds practical skills in managing reserve lands under the Indian Act. Upon completion, participants earn a professional certification recognized across Canada, supporting career pathways in land and environmental management. The program is administered by the National Aboriginal Lands Managers Association and supported by Indigenous Services Canada.

Training Includes:

  • Level I: Post-secondary coursework (online, in-person, or blended, depending on institution)
  • Level II: Technical land management training delivered by NALMA
  • Both levels are required to earn certification.

  • Members looking to build long-term career skills in a high-demand field
  • Members interested in supporting community land governance and development
